PDF to Word Converter Desktop Software is a simple document conversion tool that transforms your PDF documents into Microsoft Word (DOC and RTF), plain text (TXT) and TIFF files. Its intuitive and attractive interface supports batch conversion, and it allows you to assign a different output format to each item in the conversion list.
When pulling down the Output Type menu, you will find two surprises. The first one is a format called “.Doc High resolution”, whose output looks no different from a standard DOC file. The second surprise is certainly one of the program’s biggest assets – “.Txt (For Scanned PDF)”, which actually launches a built-in OCR engine that can transform any text in an image-based PDF document into editable plain text. The program’s flexible batch processing allows you to put together in the same task list OCR and conversion tasks, which will be executed sequentially in one single operation.
Much to my regret, I could not find any settings section where I could decide on the output quality of the Word and TIFF files. Though the program seems to put the utmost care in retaining the original layout of the PDF file (whenever possible), it is always nice to be given the opportunity of deciding on some aspects related to the output layout, such as the quality of the images, the page dimensions, etc. The only other drawback I found is that none of the new Word file formats is supported (i.e., DOCX and DOCM), though I cannot consider this a real deterrent for potential users. All in all, this utility is more than capable of solving most of your PDF-to-Word conversion needs in a flexible and rewarding way.
